A Few of My Favorite Things

Hi friends!

Pchan here with a somewhat random selection of items that I really enjoy. Whether you gain some fashion inspiration or end up wanting to try new products, I hope you have something to take away from my sharing!

Asos Chambray Top
I had to have this top after I saw it on Wendy's Lookbook.  Initially, I was disappointed that I purchased a size too big, only to excitedly (and prematurely) rip the tag off. However, I recently had it taken in and I love it! It's a great, substantial modal fabric that is super soft to the touch. It's a modest button-up with a peter pan collar, but also features a flirty, flared bottom. Pair it with a fabulous statement necklace for a trendier look. Similar styled here.

BP Nordstrom Sunglasses
These sunnies will be my must-have accessory for Spring and Summer. Everything is too bright without them; bright lights set off my allergies. I would generally style them with a simpler outfit. Too much color or print runs the risk of looking tacky, but I won't lie, I've probably broken this rule anyway. They are not in stock anymore, but you can get a similar look with these. And if you're interested in statement sunglasses in general, check 'em out here.

Anne Klein Printed Scarf
This scarf is one of my favorites because one of my besties, Hannah, gave it to me as a gift when I visited her in SoCal last year. I don't know if it's the Korean hospitality or the fact that she loves me (she's either laughing or rolling her eyes now), but she knows how to buy a girl gifts! I like to wear it simply draped over my neck with a sweater and dainty jewelry, but there are a few ways to style this scarf. Wear it loosely (or tightly) wrapped around the neck, or drape it so that the ends flow down your back. Unfortunately, I didn't think at the time to take more pics for visuals, but all the more reason to post again! Check back later for ways to style scarves for spring ;)  In the meantime, take a gander at these lovely beauts.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation
I have been using Tarte foundation for the last couple of years or so, and I don't see myself switching anytime soon. It's a lightweight, oil-free formula with build-able medium to full coverage. Tarte, in recent months, came out with more shades; I'm currently wearing Medium-tan Honey. If you like natural looking make-up that you don't have to cake on, but also want the option to cover up a little more on occasion, this is a good option for you.  It's not the cheapest, but it's definitely a product I would recommend. If you've struggled with acne, like me, I would suggest investing in your foundation (think "quality, coverage, and confidence"). A little Tarte goes a long way and the $40 you spend every six months for it, yields a great ROI. I also recommend using either an airbrush or a stippling brush for application.

Lush Liquid Lipstick in Perspective
My Lush lipstick is a gift from Chris's (the bf) lovely mama. We were running errands before dinner in his hometown, and being outnumbered by the ladies (mom, sister, and I), of course we made an unexpected stop for some beauty products. I really appreciated the service and the chance to sample just about everything! They let you take little bits of their products home to try before committing, but after trying this color on the first time, I already knew I wanted it. I'm a big fan of the demure, rosy hue; although I love pops of color, I still gravitate towards subtle and natural lips more often. No matter your preference though, there's something for everyone. Take your pick!

Sombre?! + Quick OOTD

Hi everyone! Priscilla O. here doing a post dedicated to...my hair. Vain right? Well, I actually got asked about my hair by a lot of people so, I figured might as well make a post out of it. Get ready...cuz I'm about to get detailed! :P

I got my hair done by Anna Johnson at Atelier SalonSpa on Santana Row (website linked). She's fantabulous. I was previously sporting very long locks that had faded to a reddish/orange tone within a natural ombre (the orange was...definitely not on purpose). Regardless, after my haircut with Anna, which resulted in ~4-5 inches chopped off, there was no sign of ombre left in my hair. So we started from the beginning when deciding on how I wanted to color my hair.

My hair color was achieved in two sessions. First, we did an overall base dye toning out some of the red. We achieved a slightly cooler medium brown. Second, we added two toned highlights through an ombre'd technique. The first tone was ~1-2 shades lighter than the base, the second tone ~3 shades lighter than the base. Anna did the braid technique, where she braided my hair & colored the pieces hanging out of the braids. This allows the highlights to have an effect of having no beginning. I also requested highlights to be placed around my face to provide an illusion of a framed face. She then went over my whole head with a purple tone to further cool down the overall color of my hair. The result? A very natural multidimensional look that highlights the face & has fluidity in color. No harsh lines & low maintenance.

Anna dubbed the color...The Sombre (subtle/soft ombre) what the what?! hahaha I thought that name was hilarious & I immediately referred to the word 'somber.' But the name is fitting I guess. You can't quite tell my hair is ombre'd, but there is a subtle illusion of it getting lighter.

Aveda specializes in color & their hair dyes are 99% natural ingredients. My hair was NOT damaged even when lightening was done with the lightest shade. Their stylist are specially trained and hold to a certain degree of ability to apply color.

After years and years of coloring my own hair, I've stepped up to the next level & really learned how to appreciate how the professionals do it. I am in LOVE with my hair & have dubbed Anna my regular stylist. :) To make this post complete, I asked D to snap a few shots before we went out to eat brunch this past weekend. :)

Slice of Life: Enjoying a Casual Saturday, New Hair Salon, & Brie

Hi everyone! Priscilla O. here. Sorry that we haven't posted in over a week! I had exams and P.C. had a super busy week. We have an outfit post coming up, but some events have occurred so it will be postponed for a bit. In the mean time...a little slice of life blogging action.

So, recently I decided to find a new salon. I've had a fair share of horrible hair cuts and botched colorings, so I'm extremely cautious when it comes to picking out salons. I was currently going to two separate salons, one for coloring and one for hair cuts. Isn't that ridiculous? I needed to find a place that could be my one stop shop. After quite awhile, I decided to schedule an appointment with Anna at the Atelier SalonSpa in San Jose. It's an Aveda salon located on Santana Row. So far, I'm loving it. Anna is one of the kindest hair stylists I've ever met & she's so warm and friendly! I got ~4 inches cut off on my first visit & am in the talks about a change of color. Maybe I'll do a post about the details once the process is completed. :)

After my haircut, D met up with me & we enjoyed lunch outside. We went to Pizza Antica, which is one of my favorite restaurants on Santana Row. My favorites are: blackcurrent soda, chopped salad, margherita pizza, and gnocchi. Usually D & I order exactly that & share everything. It's sooooo delicious. Try it sometime! Here are some snap shots of my day. Hope you guys have a fabulous week! :)

*I snuck in a couple pictures of Brie at the end...just for fun :)*
